With a complete new look and exciting layout, Beirut’s premier outdoor spring event, The Garden Show & Spring Festival, opened to the public on Tuesday the 23rd of May. Under the patronage of the Beirut Municipality, the five-day show returns for its 14th edition and showcases an even bigger selection of flowers, plants, gardening equipment, terrace furniture and handicrafts.

In the presence of the Governor of Beirut, Mr. Ziad Chebib and the President of the Beirut Municipality, Mr. Jamal Itany the show was inaugurated with an official flower-ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The Garden Show & Spring Festival is an event we look forward to each year. We are blessed with a beautiful Mediterranean climate and the Lebanese love to entertain on their balconies and in their gardens. The show provides the ideal spot for people to find everything they need to uplift their outdoor spaces and fully enjoy the season,” said Joumana Dammous, managing director of Hospitality Services sarl, one of the organizers of the event.

This year’s show takes place under the theme “Colors in the Garden,” with more than 240 exhibitors showcasing a huge selection of colorful plants, flowers, outdoor furniture, ornaments and all kinds of garden equipment. It is expected that the five-day event will attract a crowd of over 24,000 people.

“We wanted to do something very unique this year. The show’s identity was created by Nevine Mattar, a local artist and we have a special installation created exclusively for us by Bokja design studio,” said Myriam Shuman, co-organizer of The Garden Show.

Festival highlights include Taste Lebanon, the official food court, offering a delectable choice of almost 30 food concepts, with a lively entertainment and music program to match and the Kids’ Village, a zone dedicated to children with lots of fun activities, such as arts and crafts and inflatable games.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with gardening experts and TV personalities, like Kinda Bitar and Marc El Beyrouthy, and learn helpful tips on how to look after plants and flowers during the summer season.

Taking place in parallel, The Garden Show is hosting Travel Lebanon, the first and only tourism event promoting domestic travel, activities, adventures and local traditions. More than 60 associations, tourism providers, ecotourism specialists, hotels, guesthouses and NGOs are participating in the event. Visitors will be able to watch dabke performances and local artisans in action, and participate in exciting workshops, such as upcycling and book binding

“There is nowhere on earth like Lebanon and we wanted to create to celebrate all the amazing things in the country. Travel Lebanon is a fantastic place for visitors to discover destinations and activities and plan their entire summer,” added Dammous.
